Fifteen-year-old Laura White, a resident of Alpharetta, Georgia, founded Swim 4 Success (previously Wild and Water Swimming, Inc.) in 2005.
After she rescued five children from drowning during a community-sponsored outing to a local lake, Laura realized the true inaccessibility of swimming lessons.
In July 2006, Laura and her swim team friends, coaches, and swim parents began organizing volunteers to teach swimming lessons, collecting donations and equipment, and choosing pool locations in the Atlanta area.
The organization became so successful that it expanded the program to the New Orleans area in 2008.
Swim 4 Success held its first lesson in New Orleans in March 2009.
Since 2006, the program has taught hundreds of children how to swim.
